About the host

A bit about myself:

I’m Slavi Gantar, a married woman with two sons, now retired but still full of energy and zest for life. I grew up in the charming village of Bistričica. I attended primary school in Stranje for four years and then in Kamnik for another four years before continuing my education in Ljubljana, where I also worked for ten years. Later, I ran my own business for 30 years. Our family was very active; we frequently went to the seaside, hiked, skied, and cycled. We were a very active sports family.

After our sons grew up and started their own families, my husband and I traveled extensively. One of our sons lived in Canada for 20 years, and the younger one spent 2 years in Switzerland before settling with his family in Australia. Despite these changes, we continue to enjoy cycling and hiking, and I also practice yoga to maintain my physical and mental well-being. I am actively involved in the intergenerational community association in Komenda.

I find great joy in working with guests, which is why I decided to transform my mother’s house—now owned by my son, who currently lives in Australia—into apartments named after his two daughters. I am delighted to welcome esteemed guests and share stories about myself, our surroundings, village life, and other interesting tidbits.
